A. Lange & Söhne has just unveiled first information about their new piece, Grand Lange 1 Lumen, which is going to be officially presented in January 2013, at SIHH exhibition in Geneve.
A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Lumen is a gorgeous high-end watch designed in the spirit of one of the brand’s previous models – the renowned Lange Zeitwerk Luminous from 2010. Both models have a beautiful dial made of slightly tinted sapphire crystal. The dial is lightly smoked and still translucent, allowing the wearer to admire the delicate mechanism that powers the functions of the watch. The big date indicator, placed at 1 o’clock is more than rare – it is the first luminescent outsize date display by A. Lange & Söhne.

The power reserve indicator, on the crown-side of the dial is also coated in Super-LumiNova, and fully legible in low light conditions. What is interesting about the watch is that its smoked sapphire sections can block most of the visible spectrum of light. This means that only the ultra-violet light passes the barrier, which, again, results in an interesting optical effect – the date platform is fully visible from the watch face!

A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Lumen is crafted from platinum and it measures 40.9mm in diameter. The watch is powered by manual wind Lange L095.2 caliber, which is now presented without the second mainspring barrel, and therefore very thin – only 9.8mm. On the other hand, the movement provides more than generous 72 hours of power reserve. The movement used for this watch is made frin German silver, and it is built from 400 individual components. In addition to the outsize date and power reserve indicator. A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Lumen can also indicate the hours, minutes, and subsidiary seconds with stop seconds.

A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Lumen will be available in a limited edition of 100 exemplars. The watch is issued under the reference number 117.035. More information about this piece following the SIHH 2013 exhibition.
