The legendary French watchmaker Cartier has created new watch collections for the upcoming Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, which is taking place in Geneva on January 15th to 19th 2018. Among the novelties to be introduced at the Salon is the new Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon, an openworked version of Cartier’s Mysterious Double Tourbillon model.
Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon for SIHH 2018 is a stunning platinum timepiece that measures 45mm in diameter and is 12.4mm thick. Its highly polished round case embraces and holds the openworked movement in place, while the absence of the traditional dial allows the wearer to admire its brushed and polished structures with skeletonized bridges forming Roman numerals.
The watch is powered by the in-house produced Caliber 9465 MC, which has been stripped down to its bare essentials and assembled from 286 total components and 26 jewels. The prominent mystery double tourbillon appears at the six o'clock position, completing one full rotation every five minutes. The tourbillon also rotates on its own axis, making one revolution per minute.
The new Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Skeleton Mysterious Double Tourbillon will be available in a limited edition of 30 individually numbered exemplars. The watch will be officially unveiled in January next year. A retail price for this model is $216,000, or $530,000 for a special version with a bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds.
