Swiss watchmaker Corum celebrates Halloween with three brand new Bubble Skull timepieces. The famous watchmaker introduces three new limited edition models for the spookiest night of 2016: the Bubble Pirate, which is available in an exclusive edition of 188 pieces, the Bubble Voodoo in only 38 exemplars, and the Bubble Skull, which is issued in 88 pieces.
The Bubble Skull watches for Halloween 2016 are generously sized stainless steel timepieces with an imposing diameter of 47mm. These round-shaped Corum Bubble watches are distinguished by their tall domed sapphire crystals and skeleton-themed, whimsical dials. The smoothly curved cases are fitted with a thick domed crystal that creates a magnifying lens effect, which enlivens the dial and makes the spooky images appear to be leaping right out of the case.
The fiery dial featuring a silvered skull is housed in a natural stainless steel case, while the other two models feature blackened, PVD-coated cases. The new Corum Bubble Spookies are powered by the automatic movement CO 082, which beats at a frequency of 28'800 vph, and provides 42 hours of power reserve. The watches are mounted on matching rubber straps, and sealed against the ingress of water to 100 meters of depth.
Corum Bubble Skull reappears on the night of the Halloween! The calavera-inspired dial features a red-colored sugar skull set against the dark backdrop of the dial. This particular skull motif is borrowed from the Mexican culture, where it is applied to decorative or edible skulls used in the celebration of the Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos). Its pitch-dark eyes will awaken your deepest, slumbering fears.
The Voodoo skull model has a fiery dial red featuring a silvered skull of Baron Samedi, one of the lost spirits of Haitian Voodoo. The very same motif has been employed by Corum in a number of its limited edition Collectors Series that started in 2000. This year, Baron Samedi, who conjures up the underworld and all its dark sided images, rises from his grave to take vengeance after 16 years!
Finally, the Bubble Pirate watch with the Jolly Roger motif features a black dial with a silver skull motif. The famous pirate-themed dial has also appeared on the Corum Bubble Privateer model, from 2005. The dial reveals the recognizable pirate skull wearing a bright red bandanna, and a bandage over one eye. Two crossed swords occupy the lower portion of the dial, completing the look of the Jolly Roger flag used to identify a pirate ship about to attack.
