Something really interesting is coming from the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufactures these days. This time, the brand known for keeping with the finest Swiss haute horlogerie tradition is not launching a new watch or clock, but an authentic, original souvenir from the Vallée de Joux - "Honey from the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre."
The beautiful Vallée de Joux is a valley of the Jura Mountains in Switzerland, the birthplace of Swiss horology and the home of Jaeger-LeCoultre, as well as many other high-end watch brands. Ten bee hives were installed at entrance of the Jaeger-LeCoultre' Grand Watchmaking House (Grande Maison) in July earlier this year, and now they are starting with production of the best quality honey possible. Each of the visitors of the manufacture will now have the opportunity to taste the brand's honey, which is produced by Franck Crozet, a professional bee keeper from the region.
This interesting new venture is only a part of the brand's efforts to integrate its Manufacture within its natural environment. This way, Jaeger-LeCoultre makes yet another commitment in preserving the environment now when the honeys are threatened species due to the colony collapse disorder - an unexplained phenomenon in which the bees abruptly disappear. Since the bees play a major role in the reproduction of plants, and many agricultural crops are pollinated by bees, Jaeger-LeCoultre has decided to give them a helping hand.
Let me also mention that Jaeger-LeCoultre is a UNESCO partner and a leader of the "Tides of Time" programe, which is dedicated to the preservation of endangered marine sites. The brand also uses recycling materials and certified paper, since 2009.
