BaselWorld 2017
On the occasion of the BaselWorld watch and jewelry show, the house of Maurice Lacroix introduces a number of new Masterpiece Retrograde watches. The collection, which represents the best of Maurice Lacroix’s know-how, has long been a stage for a wonderful illustration of different complications, especially retrograde displays. Maurice Lacroix has been specializing in this complication since 1999. This year, the Maison is unveiling two types of retrograde watches: the Masterpiece Double Retrograde and the Masterpiece Moon Retrograde.
Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Double Retrograde comes in two new references, both crafted from stainless steel. Their generously proportioned cases, measuring 43mm in diameter, provide ample size do display all indications in a clear and legible manner. The dial reveals hours, minutes, and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock, paired with a power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock position. Just below noon, a retrograde hand indicates the current hour in a second time zone, while another retrograde hand, positioned at 6 o’clock, indicates the current date.

The Masterpiece Double Retrograde is available in a choice of a silver or black dial, decorated with either a rhodium or a blue M logo and matching hour markers. The watch is mounted on a black leather strap. The automatic manufacture movement ML191, which can be admired through the sapphire case-back, powers this exquisite model. The 74-jewel movement beats at a frequency 18000 vibrations per hour, providing about 52 hours of power reserve.
Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Moon Retrograde combines the retrograde function with one of the most romantic complications in watchmaking – the Moonphase. The combination of these two complications confers an unquestionable exceptionality to the model. Crafted from stainless steel, the Masterpiece Moon Retrograde comes in a 43mm case, with three dial options: silver, black, and blue. The dark-colored dials feature a distinctive modern appeal, while the silver one displays a classical character. The black and blue dial options stylishly feature a Côtes de Genève motif or a vertically brushed effect. The M logo and indexes are presented in either rhodium or blue, depending on the color of the dial.

Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Moon Retrograde is equipped with the in-house movement ML192, which powers a full array of indications: hours and minutes, a date at 10 o’clock with a retrograde hand, a moonphase indication at 6 o’clock, and a power reserve indication at 2 o’clock position. The movement, assembled from 344 individual components, beats at a frequency of 18000 vibrations per hour and offers 52 hours of power reserve. Its finely decorated surfaces can be admired through the exhibition case-back. The watch is supplied with a black crocodile leather strap, paired with a deployment buckle.
