Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Regatta in forged carbon, a special limited edition watch with a 10-minute countdown indication that allows yachtsmen to count down the final ten minutes before the start of the race.
On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2015 exhibition, Maurice Lacroix launched its new Pontos S Regatta model, which is, this time, clad in forged carbon. Even though this robust and sporty piece measures 45mm in diameter, it remains extremely lightweight and sturdy, thanks to the choice of cutting-edge materials. Not only is forged carbon responsible for amazing technical features of the Pontos S Regatta, but it’s also contributing to its interesting aesthetic. The multi-colored case, which is crafted entirely in-house, blends gray and black elements, while the hour and minutes are indicated with rhodium plated, faceted hands with luminescent coating. The red central chronograph seconds hand features a vibrant orange tip.
The Pontos S Regatta has a large arching aperture just below the 12 o’clock positions. The aperture reveals a dual-tone disc with bright white numerals descending from ten to one, which is used to measure time before the start of the race. The 10-minutes “Race” complication should be activated via the push piece at 2 o’clock, simultaneously with a 10 minute audible signal which sounds prior to the start of a sailing regatta. The numerals from 10 to 1 are indicated by a black triangular pointer, while the word Race designates that the regatta has commenced.
Pushing and turning the crown at 2 o’clock lets the wearer to adjust the inner rotating bezel, while a push piece, embedded in the center of the crown, starts and stops the countdown function. Next to the applied indexes is a scale calibrated for knots, which enables calculations of speed over a given distance. The central portion of the dial is silver-colored and sunburst finished, while the snail hour track reveals white indices on dark backdrop. The watch is mounted on a black rubber strap with a black PVD buckle.
Maurice Lacroix Pontos S Regatta is powered by the automatic movement ML162. The 44-jewel mechanism beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides around 38 hours of power reserve. The watch is water resistant to up to 200 meters, which makes it suitable for marine activity, serious surface water sports and skin diving. The Pontos S Regatta in forged carbon is issued in a limited edition of 125 pieces. This extraordinary watch aimed at yachtsmen is priced at $7,900.
