Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso a Eclipses homage to Kazimir Malevich

Kazimir Severinovich Malevich is a founder of geometric abstract art and the initiator of the Avant-garde Suprematist movement. The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso is graced with reinterpretation of Malevich’s painting “Peasant Woman”, from 1931. This famous painting belongs to the most mature period of his creative work and it is now owned by the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. This painting, along with other works from this period, represents the gradual enslavement of the peasant world in which the painted figures lose their facial features, and even their arms (a symbol of hard work) and beards (a symbol of dignity for Orthodox Russians).

The watch is issued in only 5 pieces to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the legendary Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. It comes in a pink-gold case that houses Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 849. The dial of a watch is covered with golden shutters that open to reveal a miniature reproduction of the “Peasant Woman” produced by painting on enamel.
