Bulgari’s Gerald Genta 50th anniversary watch is designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Gérald Genta brand, which had been acquired by Bulgari back in 2000. To mark this special occasion, Bulgari introduced a special platinum Arena Bi-Retro, which is actually a re-release of one of the Genta’s iconic creations.
The watch is crafted from noble platinum and housed in a distinctive 41mm Arena case, which is immediately recognizable by its wide and polished curved bezel. Time is displayed in an unconventional way – not by a set of hands, but through a the complex jumping hours mechanism and a round hour aperture at 12 o’clock. Retrograde hands at 210° and 180°, respectively indicate the minutes and the date.
The modern version of the Arena Bi-Retro features a blue lacquered dial bearing the original Gerald Genta logo. Underneath is the in-house automatic calibre BVL300, which beats at a frequency of 4Hz, offering about 42 hours of power reserve. The movement reveals its Geneva stripes and a GG-personalized rotor through the sapphire case-back.
Bulgari Gerald Genta 50th Anniversary Watch is mounted on an integrated blue alligator strap with a platinum folding buckle. The watch, ref. 103191, retails for CHF 55,000. More info at bulgari.com.
