For BaselWorld 2016, Bulgari introduces the Bulgari Serpenti Incantati, yet another version of the world’s most renowned jewelry timepiece.

The house of Bulgari was founded in 1884, by Sotirio Bulgari, a man of Greek heritage who lived in Rome. At first, his brand produced only silverware and decorative items, before it finally tapped into jewelry in 1905. The famous Serpenti bracelet, the brand's most iconic jewelry creation shaped like a snake coiled around the wrist, was first introduced during the 1940s. The Serpent collection derives its inspiration from the Greco-Roman heritage of the brand, recalling the legend of the snake from both Greek and Roman mythologies. The snake was a symbol of life, positivity, healing, rebirth, and protection... but also sleek, elegant and seductive – just like Bulgari's creations.
In the 1940s, Bulgari began making Serpent jewelry, in the style of the Roman twisted twine adornments, using a Tubogas technique. The first confirmed Serpenti bracelet had a distinctive “gas pipe” design that was coming back into style during the era. It was a wraparound, flexible bracelet, made from tube-shaped links similar to gas pipes. The gorgeous new Serpenti became widely popular during the 1960s, when Elizabeth Taylor, who already owned several Serpent bracelets, wore one them while shooting Cleopatra in Rome. It is when the brand introduced its first enamel designs, Serpenti belts, and the famous Serpenti was finally established as an iconic piece of jewelry.
In 2016, Bulgari presents an exciting new version of its cult classic Serpenti jewelry watch – the Serpenti Incantati (Incantati means “enchanting” in Italian). Now, for the first time ever, the serpent actually coils around the dial! The sensual curves of the legendary reptile are captured in a completely new way, revealing a more contemporary profile, while also remaining faithful to the classic Bulgari heritage. Like Bulgari’s modern creations, the Serpenti Incantati uses an in-house Swiss caliber B033 quartz movement, with hours and minutes functions.
The case is available in either pink gold, set with 79 diamonds (~1.38 cts) and 31 rubellites (~2.08 cts); or 18-karat white gold set with 251 diamonds. Both versions measure 30mm in diameter, and they are paired with a snow–set pavé dial with 116 brilliant-cut diamonds (~0.26 ct). The Bulgari Serpenti Incantati is mounted on a diamond-set 18K pink or white gold bracelet, or brown stain strap with 18K pink gold pin buckle set with 20 diamonds (~0.33 cts).
The watch will be officially unveiled at BaselWorld 2016 trade show, from March 17 – 24.
