At BaselWorld 2016, the house of Bulgari unveiled new models of its women’s watch collection - Lucea.
The name of this utterly luxurious, feminine range, is a linguistic blend of words 'luce' and 'lux' - the Italian and Latin words for light. The light-inspired models of the Lucea range are graced with perfectly round cases, evocative of sundials, while their bracelets are often modeled after those of the Bulgari Serpenti collection. As Bulgari explains, the Lucea range establishes a direct connection between light and time via new dial colors and gem-set creations.
In 2016, the Bulgrai Lucea range welcomes a couple of new additions. Two of them, the Il Giardino Paradiso models, are reinterpreting the everlasting Artistic Garden theme with finely and sumptuously adorned dials. Two precious watches have been graced with colorful mother of pearl dials, hand-painted and decorated with brilliant-cut stones. The Il Giardino Paradiso evokes flora and fauna with an exotic, vibrantly colored bird of paradise motif. Blue mother-of-pearl depicts the sky background enlivened by a bird of paradise and a bloomy theme composed of flowers and foliage. The lively scene is framed with the gem-set bezel and lugs.
The Métiers d’art dial with blue mother-of-pearl sky, bird of paradise and plantlike motifs – foliage and flowers – is painted by hand and set with 34 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 0.064 ct). The case is mounted on a red or a blue alligator strap, fitted with 18-karat pink or white gold lugs, set with 24 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 0.4 ct); and 18-karat pink or white gold pin buckle.
Bulgari Lucea Il Giardino Paradiso is offered with either 18kt pink or white gold case, depending on the version. The watches are set with 45 brilliant-cut diamonds (~ 1.7 ct), and fitted with a sapphire crystal case-back that reveals mechanical self-winding Manufacture tourbillon movement, BVL Calibre 263. The movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and promises up to 64 hours of power reserve. Its tourbillon carriage is fitted on a sapphire bridge, while the 22-karat gold oscillating weight features Côtes de Genève décor.
Bulgari Lucea Il Giardino Paradiso is available in 50-piece limited numbered edition for both versions. The price is yet to be announced, but similar models, such as Il Giardino Tropicale Di Bulgari, are priced somewhere around $108,000.
