The house of Frederique Constant celebrates its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the Swiss brand introduces a special Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Manufacture, available in a limited run of 30 pieces and four distinct variants.
The Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Manufacture is a highly complicated timepiece that still manages to fall into the Maison’s signature “Accessible Luxury” segment. It features a brand new movement, a combination of the first in-house manufacture Tourbillon based on the Heart Beat Manufacture from 2008, and the manufacture Perpetual Calendar from 2016. In honor of its 30th anniversary the Maison unveils its fourth in-house movement, the automatic caliber FC-975.
The innovative grand complication movement features a silicium escapement wheel and anchor, so it doesn't require any lubrication. The material is light, durable, antimagnetic , and extremely resistant to temperature changes. Tourbillon’s role is to provide even more precision by offsetting the errors due to the effect of the Earth’s gravity on a movement in a vertical position. The movement provides up to 38 hours power reserve, while running at 4 Hertz with its balance wheel beating 28’800 times per hour.
he Perpetual Calendar complication also displays the day, date, month, and year acknowledging the number of days in each month and automatically adjusting itself for the leap year. It doesn’t require any manual correction before 400 years. Although there is an exception in the Gregorian Calendar, the watch will need to be adjusted on March 1st 2100.
The Frederique Constant Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon Manufacture is housed in a generously proportioned 42mm diameter 3 part case, available either in polished stainless steel, in 18k rose gold plated stainless steel, or in 18k rose gold with a see through case back. The movement is protected by a 5 ATM case for the stainless steel versions and a 3 ATM case for the 18k gold cases. Two of the models have an openworked dial, revealing the delicate perlage and the delicate Côtes de Genève decoration.
The two steel references (with openworked and solid dial) are limited to 88 pieces each and are both priced at $19,995. The rose-gold-plated version, limited to 88 pieces, is $22,995, while the solid 18k rose gold reference is limited to 30 pieces and priced at $32,995.
