BaselWorld 2014 has finally opened its gates, and Omega has revealed a comeback of its legendary Seamaster 300 model, which now utilizes a completely new Master Co-Axial calibre 8400/8401.
Omega Seamaster 300 was originally launched back in 1957, and it became an instant success and one of the watches that were especially prized among divers and professionals who work underwater. This extremely legible watch was fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel and it came with a deep black dial with large luminous hands and indexes, which made it very easy for divers to read the time in different light conditions. In 2014, more than 50 years later, the Seamaster 300 model is reintroduced in a completely new design and equipped with a superior, contemporary movement.

Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial measures 41mm in diameter and it is available in numerous different variants – crafted from stainless steel, 950 platinum, grade 5 titanium or 18K Sedna™ gold. The model is also available in dual-tone variants, combining 5 titanium and 18K Sedna™ gold or stainless steel and 18K Sedna™. This intriguing new model combines all of the Omega’s most recent innovations such as the extensive use of ceramics and high-tech materials, and two new calibers from Omega’s new family of high-quality mechanical movements.

Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial features a black ceramic dial with elements made from gold and palladium. In the creation of this watch, Omega has shown a remarkable attention to detail. The curving contour of the indexes is created by the enamel under-layer, the 18-carat white gold central hour, minute and seconds hands are coated with vintage-looking Super-LumiNova, which emits a blue light. The minute hand and the dot on the bezel are coated in green-emitting luminous material.

The central piece of the new Seamaster 300 collection is made from OMEGA’s 18-carat Sedna™ gold, while the polished black ceramic bezel ring features an OMEGA Ceragold™ diving scale. The most impressive innovation, however, is concealed inside of the case. With the Seamaster 300 model, OMEGA is introducing two new calibers – the Master Co-Axial calibre 8400/8401. It comes with the same precision and reliability as its congenial Co-Axial movements, but, as we assumed, also boasts Omega’s revolutionary anti-magnetic technology that allows it to resist magnetic fields greater than 15,000 gauss (1.5 tesla).

Honoring the latest innovation, the Omega Seamaster 300 is engraved with “Si14”, “ANTI-MAGNETIC > 15’000 GAUSS” and, depending on what alloy the diving scale is made of, “Liquidmetal®” or “Omega Ceragold™”. The watch is water resistant to 300 meters and arrives on a special bracelet with OMEGA’s patented rack-and-pusher clasp – when the wearer releases the clasp, the bracelet is adjusted, while the press on the push button slides the inner clasp to the desired fit.
Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial bi-color, stainless steel and grade 5 titanium models are powered by the Master Co-Axial calibre 8400, while the Master Co-Axial calibre 8401, distinguished by its special haute horlogerie finish, powers the models crafted from 18K Sedna™ gold and 950 platinum.
