In celebration of the upcoming James Bond Film 'Spectre', fans and watch collectors will, for the first time ever, be able to buy the model worn by 007! Until now, only commemorative editions have been used to celebrate OMEGA's partnership with the James Bond franchise.
Spectre, the 24th sequel to the iconic James Bond saga, will be released on November 6, 2015. To celebrate the occasion, OMEGA will release a special limited edition watch dedicated to the modern James Bond – Daniel Craig. James Bond has worn Omega watches since 1995, but this is the first time ever that the famous brand makes one of the Bond watches available for purchase. The OMEGA Seamaster 300 Spectre will come onto the market in September 2015, a couple of weeks before the film hits the big screen.
While all former Bond watches were actually commemorative timepieces, the new Seamaster 300 Spectre will be identical to the one that Daniel Craig wears in the film. The actor, who reappears as James Bond in Spectre, recently made a visit to the OMEGA manufacture to see the production of the watch. Later, he commented: “I think what was so impressive was the fact that these watches are made from the ground up. You start with nothing, and then there’s suddenly a working watch. That’s the beauty of it. To see the engineering that goes into it and the legacy that goes into it, that’s what fascinated me.”
OMEGA Seamaster 300 Spectre is based on the iconic Seamaster from the 1950’s. The model, distinguished by its rich naval history and classic style, has been James Bond's watch since GoldenEye. In its contemporary rendition, the Seamaster 300 Spectre is made of stainless steel and fitted with a bi-directional, rotating diving bezel, made from black, polished ceramic. The bezel combines Liquidmetal (a mixture of zirconium, nickel, and several other metals) elements for the 12-hour scale, allowing the wearer to keep a track of time anywhere in the world.
The completely new design elements are the "lollipop" central seconds hand, and a sporty 5-stripe black and gray NATO strap. One of the bracelet’s strap holders features the OMEGA logo engraved, while the engravings on the case-back include individual serial number engraved, and the Spectre film logo. The Omega Seamaster 300 Spectre is powered by the OMEGA Master Co-Axial calibre 8400 movement, which is capable of resisting magnetic field of up to 15,000 gauss. The escapement, balance wheel and spiral of the movement are made of silicon, the steel plates are made of non-magnetic material, while the spring of the shock absorber has been crafted from an amorphous material. The movement comes with a 4-year warranty.
The OMEGA Seamaster 300 Spectre will be limited to 7,007 pieces, and will be available in select Omega boutiques as of September 2015. The watch is also known as the reference number 233.32.41.21.01.001.
