On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2017 watch and jewelry show, the house of Omega introduces the Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue, a contemporary, sporty timepiece born from the art of ceramic watchmaking. Following the success of Planet Ocean Deep Black Collection, the all-black GMT ceramic watch in four different executions, Omega introduces the Big Blue, which is a combination GMT and divers' watch created from a single block of blue ceramic!

Not just the main case of the generously proportioned Big Blue is made of blue ceramic, but also its sleek, modern dial. The 45.5mm-wide watch that features a blue ceramic dial with an orange GMT track, with hands and indexes in 18K white gold with a white Super-LumiNova coating. The bezel, which is also made from blue ceramic, features a diving scale with Liquidmetal® numerals. The section of the first 15 minutes, marked to measure the timing of mandatory decompression stops, is highlighted with vibrant orange rubber. The watch is water resistant to 600 meters, and, therefore, equipped with a helium escape valve, which sits at 10 o’clock position.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue is powered by the Omega Caliber 8906, which is an automatic co-axial movement. The mechanism, which features a 60-hour power reserve, is visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. Tested and certified by both METAS and COSC, it is proven to be accurate, reliable, and   resistant to magnetic fields to up to 15,000 gauss.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue is mounted on a blue rubber strap with orange stitching and orange edges. The strap, decorated with a wave pattern, is treated with an anti-bacterial coating and fastened to the wrist by a blue ceramic fold-over clasp. The display case back is sealed with the Naiad locking system, which guarantees that all the engravings on the back of the watch stay in their correct place and oriented properly.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue, reference number 215.92.46.22.03.001, can be previewed in the next few days, at the BaselWorld trade show. The watch will be available in stores in October 2017, priced at 10,400 CHF.
