OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Ceragold

Marina Milojević | 03.31.12 | 02:13 PM

At this year's BaselWorld, OMEGA has unveiled the new models of the Planet Ocean collection. The Planet Ocean range was already updated in 2011, but this year the brand offers two completely new Planet Ocean Ceragold models, distinguished by a ceramic bezel with a diving scale made of innovative material named Ceragold.

Ceragold is actually a zirconium-based ceramic. The Omega Ceragold technology allows the bonding of 18-carat gold in ceramic and it is used to create ceramic bezels with golden numbers and scaling. The gold isn't just applied to ceramic but actually fully embedded into the material, resulting in a smooth and perfectly finished surface. In 2012, Omega makes a world premiere of the Ceragold models, both with a professional dive features and having a unidirectional rotating bezel and a helium escape valve.

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.50 mm Chronograph Ceragold

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.50 mm Chronograph Ceragold

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.50 mm Chronograph Ceragold is a slightly larger masculine watch with a bold polished black zirconium-based ceramic bezel ring. What makes this watch truly beautiful is a contrast between bright Ceragold diving scale and the black ceramic. The watch utilizes OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9301, which is the first chronograph in the brand’s proprietary family of Co-Axial movements. The watch face reveals the 60-minute and 12-hour counters on the same sub-dial at 3 o’clock and the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. 232.63.46.51.01.001

The OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Ceragold 42 mm White Planet St. Moritz is a much smaller, feminine interpretation of the Ceragold diving models. The watch is crafted in pink gold and white ceramic to honor the luxurious Swiss mountain resort town of St. Moritz. The caseback of this model is engraved with “Si14” (which stands for its silicon balance spring), “Ceragold”, “White Planet” and “St. Moritz”. The watch utilizes OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 8501 movement with a pink gold rotor and balance bridge. 232.63.42.21.04.001

Both models are having 18-carat red gold applied indexes, coated with white Super-LumiNova which emits the blue light. The faceted hands are also crafted in 18-carat red gold hands. To make this watch perfectly legible during diving adventures, the minute hand emits a green light, as does the dot on the diving bezel. Same as the other watches in the Planet Ocean collection, Ceragold models are water resistant to 60 bar/ 600 metres / 2000 feet.
