OMEGA presents the new version of its celebrated Speedmaster model – the Grey Side of the Moon, an intriguing grey timepiece made of solid ceramics.
OMEGA Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon is some kind of a sequel to the Dark Side of the Moon model, which was introduced last year. Same as its predecessor, the Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon revisits the iconic Moonwatch design, which is this time inspired by the lunar dust that has preserved mankind’s first and last steps on the Moon. The watch is entirely made of white ceramic that has been transformed into grey, using an innovative process that involves baking the case at 20,000 degrees Celsius for three hours in the plasma heating chamber. Thanks to this process, the white ceramic transforms into the unique metallic grey-colored material, capturing NASA astronaut Jim Lovell’s words: “The Moon is essentially grey.”
The beautiful grey case is fitted with the and-blasted 950 platinum dial, which contributes to the classic and elegant profile of the watch. The integrated sub-dials were also made of platinum and protected by the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The 12-hour and 60-minute counters are placed on the same sub-counter at the 3 o’clock position, while the small seconds counter appears at 9 o’clock. The black central chronograph seconds hand features a red tip, while the central hour and minute hands, indexes, and dots at 12 o’clock feature green-emission Super-LumiNova coating. What makes this watch truly unique is its tachymetric scale on the brushed ceramic bezel, which has been laser engraved and filled with luminous material. This is the very first bezel of this kind from OMEGA.
OMEGA Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon is powered by the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300 automatic movement, which is partially revealed through the beveled sapphire crystal case-back. The movement is fitted with a Si14 silicon balance spring, and it features glorious red accents. The same shade of red echoes through the dial, and also appears on the inner side of the leather strap – the red stitching.
OMEGA Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon is offered with a full four-year warranty and is delivered in a special presentation box. Reference number 311.93.44.51.99.001.
