F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport Watch No.001 Sold for 467,152 Dollars

The Christie’s paired with legendary master watchmaker F. P. Journe for a charity auction from which all proceedings are donated to the relief efforts for the recent earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. The results were extraordinary as the final price scored HK$ 3,620,000 /US$ 465,170. This is close to nine times as its original estimate! The auctioned piece was the Centigraphe Sport Number 001, the first in a new series of all-aluminum wristwatches.

All proceedings will be donated Médecins du Monde Japan and Franco-Japanese foundation FERE who has set up a program called “100 maisons pour 100 familles” (100 homes for 100 families), which constructs temporary anti-seismic wooden houses to relocate family victims of the earthquake and tsunami.
