F.P. Journe The Octa Sport

Same as its predecessor from 2011, the new Octa Sport watch is made from high-end aluminum alloy, which is the material borrowed from aeronautics. In case you don’t remember the last year’s model, I’m speaking about the Centigraphe Sport, which is the world’s first mechanical wristwatch crafted in aluminum.

The Octa Sport , with its mere 53 grams, is another lightweight and sporty creation, fitted with superior automatic movement. The core of this piece rhythms at 21'600 beats per hour and provides astonishing 120 hours (or five days) of power reserve. Automatic Calibre FPJ 1300-3 is, like the rest of the watch, crafted in aluminum alloy. Before Centigraphe Sport, F. P. Journe manufacture has been known as one of the rare watch manufactures that produces movements entirely made of 18-carat pink gold.

The watch features central hour and minutes, small seconds counter at 5 o’clock, a power reserve indicator between 10 and 11 o’clock, day & night indicator at 8 o’clock, and a large date window at 1 o’clock. Everything is nested inside the 42-milimeters wide aluminum case equipped with rubber inserts. The rubber is used to efficiently protect the watch from environmental shocks and to add to the sporty appeal of the watch.

The Octa Sport is available in two basic variations: completely crafted from aluminum or mounted on a blak rubber strap, instead of aluminum one.
