Chanel J12-356 Watches

Marina Milojević | 03.21.14 | 02:05 AM

Chanel is to debut its new J12-236 model at BaselWorld 2014.

For the occasion of the BaselWorld 2014 exhibition, Chanel presents the new version of its famous J12 model. The new J12-356 is described as the new generation of the J12 watches, which are now even more refined, more slender, and even more feminine than any of its previous editions. The name of the model expresses the idea of a watch that can accompany any lady wearing it all year round, and in any occasion. Judging by the preview images, one thing is for certain – the new watches are immediately recognizable as the members of the J12 family, even though their 36.5mm diameter provides an authentic alternative to the original sportier 38 mm version.

Chanel J12-356 is crafted from ceramics, and it arrives in either black or white variant, highlighted with stainless steel or 18-carat beige gold. This new type of gold is made from an alloy which is proprietary to Chanel. There are four new Chanel J12-356 models decorated with beige gold elements, and some of them are even set with diamonds on both the inner bezel ring and the small seconds sub dial at 6 o’clock. There are eight different variations in total: white ceramic with steel or beige gold, with or without diamonds, or in black ceramic with steel or beige gold, with or without diamonds. On all non-set variants of the J12-365 model, the subdial is decorated with snailed guilloché motif.

Chanel’s new J12-356 watches are powered by the powerful mechanical self-winding movement that provides 42 hours of power reserve. The movement, which is water resistant to 100 meters, drives indications for hours, minutes, dragging seconds and a date. The date is now dislocated at the 6 o’clock position, instead of between 4 and 5 o’clock, which has so far been the standard feature of the J12 models.

Chanel has just unveiled the new addition to the Première watch collection - a stunning new H3258 ladies' wristwatch crafted in yellow gold and decorated with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Like the rest of the Premiere collection, the new H3258 timepiece is inspired by the shape of the Chanel N °5 perfume bottle stopper, and the geometric proportions of the Place Vendôme. This unusual octagonal case symbolizes so many things that are important to Chanel. Chanel and Place Vendôme are essentially linked for decades. For Mademoiselle Chanel, Place Vendôme was one of the main sources of inspiration. She was the one to design the cap of her first perfume so that it recalls Place Vendôme’s geometry and proportions. The Première watch c...

Chanel Watch Collections

The first timepiece issued by Chanel was a watch named Première, in 1987. Just like the famous perfume Chanel N° 5, the Première watch adopted the shape of Place Vendôme, with its hands positioned in such a way as to evoke the Vendôme column in the center of the Place.

Place Vendôme, a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, and one of the oldest districts of the city, was once a home of Coco Chanel, a pioneering French fashion designer and a founder of the famous Chanel brand. Mademoiselle Chanel lived there at the Ritz Hotel in a room equipped with a rear door, which were an exit to her office, workshops and boutique, on the Rue Cambon. The Place Vendôme was also a cradle of the company's rich and successful history - it was here that Chanel launched her first collection of diamond pieces. Gabriel...
