Chanel Mademoiselle Prive Collection

Marina Milojević | 08.27.12 | 07:23 AM

A couple of days ago, I took the opportunity to announce the new Couture Precieuse Collection by Piaget. As you may remember, this collection is designed especially for Biennale des Antiquaires 2012, and it represents Piaget's largest collection yet for the world's most important fine jewelery show. Today, I present a couple of jewelery watches by Chanel, all from the “Mademoiselle Privé” collection created for this year's Biennale.

This is actually a commemorative collection designed to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the only High Jewelry collection created by Gabrielle Chanel, in 1932 - “Bijoux de Diamants”. The inspiration for the new creations is found in the symbols that fired Gabrielle Chanel’s imagination; celestial objects, wishing stars, feathers and constellations... A Lion, one of the most dominant symbols in the collection, is chosen because Mademoiselle Chanel was born under the sign of Leo. It blends nicely with the symbolism of stars and forms captivating images of faraway galaxies.

Three new watches are inspired by the Lion, Comet and Feather designs and crafted using various combinations of most demanding decorative techniques such as engraving, “grands feux” enameling and stone setting. The watches are graced with white, yellow and black diamonds, or pink and blue sapphires and pearl, each of them displaying its incomparable creative flavor.

Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch Constellation du Lion

Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch Constellation du Lion is crafted in white gold and snow-set with 513diamonds (3.2 carats) and 7 baguette-cut diamonds (0.3 carat) on the case. The dial is coated with blue translucent “Grand Feu” enamel featuring lion engraving. There are also 30 grain-set and invisible set diamonds (1 carat) on the dial, 35 snow-set diamonds and 1 ogive gem-quality blue sapphire (0.3 carat) on the crown, and 80 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.4 carat) on the buckle.

Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch Facettes dial

Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch Facettes dial is crafted in white gold and snow-set with 47 snow-set diamonds (3.4 carats)on the case. The dial features a blue translucent “Grand Feu” enamel coating graced with facettes engraving. There are also 47 grain-set diamonds (0.2 carat) on the dial, 38 snow-set diamonds and 1 ogive gem-quality blue sapphire (0.3 carat) on the crown and 80 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.4 carat) on the folding buckle.

Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch Plume enchantée

Mademoiselle Privé watch Plume enchantée is crafted in white gold and snow-set with 16 snow-set diamonds (2.1 carats) and 216 pink sapphires (1.6 carats) on the dial. The black “Grand Feu” enamel dial features 18K white gold feather carved in relief and 63 grain-set and invisible set diamonds (0.2 carat) and 26 pink sapphires (0.4 carat). The crown is graced with 37 snow-set diamonds and 1 ogive gem-quality pink sapphires (0.3 carat), while the folding buckle sparkles with 80 brilliant-cut diamonds (0.4 carat).

All three versions of Chanel Mademoiselle Privé watch are presented in 37.5 mm case-diameter, equipped with self-winding mechanical movement. The watches provide indications for hours and minutes, and at least 42 hours of power reserve. In addition to fine jewelery watches, the Mademoiselle Privé collection also brings a new interpretation of the Comet necklace, a head jewel, sautoir necklace, and a brooch, in yellow and white diamonds.

Chanel Watch Collections

The first timepiece issued by Chanel was a watch named Première, in 1987. Just like the famous perfume Chanel N° 5, the Première watch adopted the shape of Place Vendôme, with its hands positioned in such a way as to evoke the Vendôme column in the center of the Place.

Place Vendôme, a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, and one of the oldest districts of the city, was once a home of Coco Chanel, a pioneering French fashion designer and a founder of the famous Chanel brand. Mademoiselle Chanel lived there at the Ritz Hotel in a room equipped with a rear door, which were an exit to her office, workshops and boutique, on the Rue Cambon. The Place Vendôme was also a cradle of the company's rich and successful history - it was here that Chanel launched her first collection of diamond pieces. Gabriel...
