On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2015 trade show, the house of Perrelet has introduced a new model to its Diamond Flower collection. The feminine new creation named Diamond Flower Amytis is a part of a special range designed by women for women. This refined timepiece of delicate beauty unites the watchmaking expertise with distinctively sophisticated feminine aesthetics.
The new Perrelet Diamond Flower Amytis is named after Amytis of Media, the famous wife of Nebuchadnezzar, an ancient Assyrian king who envisioned and orchestrated the construction of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. As Perrelet announces, this highly original model pays tribute to one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. At the same time, this fine piece of art and craft evokes the beauty of Amytis of Media, Queen of Babylon.
Perrelet’s Diamond Flower Amytis is aimed at ladies who appreciate fine watchmaking. This unique creation is equipped with a mechanical in-house movement, which is automatically wound via an oscillating weight, the Double Rotor P-181-H, patented by the brand. The exquisite movement features one rotor on the dial side, and one of the movement side. Both of them are exposed to the observer, while the one at the dial side portrays flower petals oscillating with every movement of the wrist. The movement of the rotor is creating a suspended effect, which is another subtle reference to the hanging gardens of Babylon.
The exceptional Double Rotor P-181-H movement, which is patented by Perrelet and entirely produced within its Manufacture, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It features a hollowed oscillating weight with dedicated Perrelet decoration (this time representing the petals of a flower) and brings to life the hour, minute and second functions. The movement provides 42 hours of power reserve, and is water resistant to 50 meters.
There are three different Diamond Flower Amytis models to choose from, each with a stainless steel 36.5 mm-diameter stainless steel case fitted with a see-through sapphire crystal case-back. A lady an choose between a black or white mother-of-pearl dial, which is paired with matching alligator leather strap and equipped with an openworked Double Rotor partially set with diamonds. The more precious version features a diamond-set bezel framing a white and anthracite dial, whit the Double Rotor decorated with white mother-of-pearl elements and diamonds. The European retail price for the watch is €5 600 - € 10 200, depending on the model.
