Introducing the Perrelet Turbine XL Red
Perrelet's flagshi model, the famous Turbine, now comes in a large 48mm case, and with a vibrant red under dial-which is said to symbolize action, passion, and strength. This very old luxury brand was established in the late eighteenth century by Abraham-Louis Perrelet, the famous Swiss watchmaker who invented the automatic self-winding movement, back in 1777. The Perrelet brand has been in continuous production ever since then, but its most prosperous modern phase begun in 2004, when it was acquired by the Festina Group. The company has recently released a number of complicated watches and established its recognizable aesthetic codes.
The spirit of Perrelet is embodied in its patented Double Rotor system, which is an homage to the founder of the brand. As you may know, the rotor is Abraham-Louis Perrelet’s major invention, a mechanism used to power a spiral mainspring in a mechanical watch. The spring powers the gears, and the gears are setting the watch in motion… The Double Rotor system features a traditional rotor that is coupled with an additional one, positioned on the dial-side, at its very center. The Double Rotor not only enables greater winding performance, but it also allows the wearer to admire the wonder of movement’s perpetual oscillations. In 2009, Perrelet introduced the first of its Turbine models, which offered a new interpretation of the Double Rotor system. This time, the rotor on the dial-side was substituted by a 12-blade rotating wheel, resulting in mesmerizing optical effects. Ever since then, the brand has played with different colors and motifs placed below the Turbine, thus giving each of its Turbine models a unique backdrop for pictorial delight.
The Perrelet Turbine XL Red features a vibrant red and black under-dial, placed beneath the black Turbine. The model measures 48mm in diameter and it is available in two variants: an all-black PVD-coated stainless steel variant (A1051-9-1), or a two-tone model with titanium case middle and black PVD-coated bezel and case-back (A1050-6-1). Both watches are powered by Perrelet’s in-house self-winding P-331 movement, which can be admired through the sapphire case-back. The beauty of these robust three-handers is accentuated with red-colored seconds hand, and luminous Arabic numerals and hour-markers on the black inner bezel ring.
Perrelet Turbine XL Red is water resistant to 50 meters and it promises about 42 hours of power reserve. The watch is mounted on a sporty black rubber strap with steel folding clasp buckle coated in black DLC.
