BaselWorld 2017
On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2017, Perrelet introduced two new additions to its Turbine Pilot watch family. Two new references, distinguished by their dynamic, sporty look, are inspired by the world of aeronautics. At the same time, they remain faithful to Perrelet’s iconic Turbine model, which is the most dynamic interpretation of the Double Rotor technology. Designed in 2009, the legendary Turbine features a double rotor transformed into a turbine fitted with 12 aluminum blades. The rotor visible on the dial side covers the whole dial and slips beneath the inner bezel ring. Disconnected from the movement’s oscillating weight, the turbine spins with every movement of the wrist to create a spectacular visual effects.
In its latest rendition, Perrelet Turbine is equipped with essential instruments for flight: the circular slide rule on the bi-directional inner rotating ring. Retaining all the features of a professional pilot’s watch, the Turbine Pilot integrates the turbine composed of 12 black anodized aluminum blades. The hour, minute and second hands, as well as the raised indexes and the Arabic numerals 3,6,9,12 on the sapphire glass, have been painted in an intense luminescent electric shade of blue (ref. A1095/2) that evokes the blue of the pilot’s skies. The blue stripes contrast with the black under-dial, as does the spiral that adorns the central part of the turbine.
Another version of the same model is also available for those who appreciate tone on tone watches. The Turbine Pilot A1095/1 substitutes electric blue with a luminescent gray, for a more discreet style.
In both of its latest iterations, the Turbine Pilot is powered by the in-house made P-331 automatic calibre, which has a power reserve of 42 hours and is waterproof to 5ATM. The movement, and especially its open-worked oscillating weight decorated with the Perrelet logo, can be admired through the crystal clear case back. The Turbine Pilot is available on a two-material black leather and rubber alligator strap, with a black PVD stainless steel clasp and the Perrelet logo. The watches are crafted from black PFV stainless steel and they measure 48mm in diameter and 13.48 in thickness.
