The house of Perrelet has just introduced the LAB, which is its latest creation designed in partnership with SC Bern, the top tier hockey team from Switzerland.
SC Bern is the best European ice hockey team. It has won the Swiss Championship no less than 14 fans, and prides itself with more than half a million fans per season. Same as its famous watchmaking partner, SC Bern is dedicated to constant progress, innovation, and achieving excellence.
The LAB prototype, which was presented earlier this year at the BaselWorld watch and jewelry show, is now finished and will soon be leaving Perrelet’s workshops to be offered in Perrelet’s worldwide boutiques. The watch, all the way down to the tiniest movement component, has been entirely designed and created in Perrelet’s own manufactures. This unique mechanical watch is highly innovative, yet it remains true to Perrelet’s recognizable DNA.
The cushion-shaped watch case of the LAB is made from a solid block of stainless steel, and it measures 42 mm x 42 mm in dimensions. The casing, adorned with a vertical decoration made of a number of raised rectangles, features slightly rounded outline and brushed and polished lugs. The octagonal bezel, framing a three-dimensional dial, is also polished and satin-brushed.
The distinctive three-dimensional effect of the dial is achieved using an original, multi-level construction. The central part of the dial is decorated with vertical lines, the rim is circular-brushed, while the cut-out hour-makers are painted with white-emission SuperLuminova and applied on a sapphire crystal ring. This creates a mesmerizing illusion of floating in the air, and allows the wearer to admire the most distinctive feature of the watch – the movement of its oscillating weight.
Underneath the dial is the new P-411 Calibre with the peripheral oscillating weight fitted on ball bearings. The oscillating weight is fitted on a toothed wheel (whose teeth are on the inside), located on the outer part of the movement, which is engaged by a pinion placed on the movement outer diameter. The rotor, which is visible both from the see-through case-back and the transparent hour ring, is decorated with a screw-down plate bearing a unique oblique lines décor. Displaying the hours, minutes and seconds, and the date at 6 o’clock, the LAB has a 42-hour power reserve.
Perrelet the LAB is mounted on a black alligator leather strap with a stainless steel clasp. The watch is available in three different versions: silver dial, anthracite dial, and black dial. Water resistant to 50 meters.
Perrelet the LAB retails at 4,950 CHF. - Perrelet.com
