Perrelet Turbine GMT

Marina Milojević | 02.18.16 | 10:07 PM

Perrelet is launching the Turbine GMT, a watch aimed at travelers, equipped with a dual time-zone function.

The house of Perrelet introduces a new member of its famous Turbine collection. The Turbine range, which is inspired by Perrelet's traditional double automatic rotor dials, was introduced in 2009. At that time, now famous Turbine was only an experimental, concept watch, but it attained the success that was most encouraging. Since 2009, Perrelet Turbine has appeared in numerous fresh iterations, each offering a new interpretation of the in-house Double Rotor system.

Perrelet Turbine GMT

The house of Perrelet is most famous for its patented Double Rotor system, which is a modern take on Abraham-Louis Perrelet’s major invention – the rotor. In a mechanical watch, the rotor powers a spiral mainspring, which again powers the gears, setting the watch in motion. Unlike the traditional rotor, the Double rotor features a pair of traditional rotors, one of which is mounted on the dial-side. The Double Rotor not only mesmerizes its wearer by unveiling the secret of movement’s perpetual oscillations, but it also provides greater winding performance.

The Turbine collection another take on this exciting innovation. In Turbine timepieces, the rotor on the dial-side is replaced by a 12-blade rotating wheel, which creates dynamic optical effects. Ever since 2009, the brand has experimented with different colors and motifs placed behind the Turbine blades, which are alternately hiding and revealing the backdrop, to create unique optical illusions. In 2016, Perrelet introduces the Turbine GMT, which is equipped with a 24-hour dual-time function. The hand indicating the second time zone is by the crown, same as the hour hands.

Perrelet Turbine GMT

This stainless steel watch is designed for sportsmen and travelers, and it features a generous 44 mm diameter case. The famous bladed dial (10 blades in this version) reveals a turbine in blue or black anodized aluminum. On this particular model, the turbine spinning freely above the dial reveals a globe engraved on a Côtes de Genève background motif. The transparent dial is made of sapphire crystal, and it reveals Arabic numerals and applied indexes. The Manufacture P-401 caliber, is revealed through the transparent case back. The movement is mounted on 25 jewels, it beats at a frequency of 28,000 vibrations per hour, and  provides a power reserve of 42 hours.

Perrelet Turbine GMT is available with steel or black PVD-coated steel case, fitted with a blue or black rubber or leather strap. There are four versions to choose from: classic black or Pacific blue, with either a matching rubber strap or an alligator strap. Water resistant to 50 meters.
